VA Mobile App Authentication (2FA)

Overview 

This document helps the user to understand how to use VA Mobile App as an method of 2-Factor authentication. There is existing feature in VA for 2-Factor authentication I.e. Google Authenticator, now along with that this new feature is added which user can setup for logging into VA as a mode of 2-Factor authentication. 

Prerequisites 

Below are the prerequisites for VA Mobile App authentication, also please go through the User manual of Mobile Support module as well, if setting for the first time. 

  1. VA Mobile App on your phone from Google Play store or Apple App store. 

  2. Vienna Advantage Webservice (Min. Version 1.0.10.0) should be hosted on server and connected with database that is linked with your hosted Vienna Advantage Application. 

How it works 

User need to do the setting in the User Management screen to enable 2-Factor Authentication. There is a field which displays list of values as "Google Authenticator" and "VA Mobile App", if user want to enable "VA Mobile App" authentication then from the list this value needs to be selected. Along with this setting there is one checkbox "Enable Push Notification", which also needs to be marked as true, which is required to send OTP as push notification message to the user. Refer to the image below for the settings in User Management Screen.

In case, if user has enabled the settings in the User Management screen but not yet linked his device with the application from mobile linking form (Pic. 2) while logging in with his user credentials (please refer to User Manual on how to link device with VA Application), User will get the message after login to the system as shown in the image (Pic. 3) .

If all the configuration is done correctly, then at the time of login, user will be prompted to enter OTP (Pic. 5) generated in VA Mobile App, which can be fetched when user logs in to VA mobile app, which is valid for one minute (60 Seconds), as shown in the screenshot below.

 Below is the screen that will appear when user enter his username and password, where OTP is asked which is valid for 1 minute, and user will get option to resend OTP in case if it is not received or not entered with in the time duration.

After user enter the OTP generated by VA Mobile app displayed above and login to VA Application, user will be displayed success message on his device as shown in the image below.
