Overview:   

Batch Update is functionality that has been introduced in the framework which allows user to update the multiple records of any window. The purpose of this functionality is that the user can update the single /multiple records simultaneously. All the guidelines are explained in this document. Users must follow these guidelines to ensure the smooth working of application.

Pre-requisites for Batch Update:

  • Vienna Advantage Framework 5.9.1.0 

  • Vienna Advantage Base File 2.3.5.0 

Batch Update: 

User can update the records of any window by using batch update popup box. For this, user must login with System Administrator role. To use batch update, User must ensure about the entry of ENABLE_BATCHUPDATE with value Y in system config window. After that go to that window where user want to update records and click on batch update icon. A popup box of batch update will be shown on your window where you can choose the columns and set their values accordingly. Detailed description of this process is explained below.

How to use batch update: 

Step 1: 

  • Login with System Administrator role.   

  • Open the System Config window. And ensure about the entry of ENABLE_BATCHUPDATE with value Y.  if there is no existing record than create a new record of ENABLE_BATCHUPDATE.

 For instance, if we want to update two columns, 'message type' and 'Active,' for the seven selected rows as shown below:"   

 

Steps for Updating Record 

  1. Go to Menu & Search for the Window i.e. Message & Label 

  2. Click to open the window  

  3. Select the records you want to update.

Remark: If all the records are successfully updated, the popup box will close. Otherwise, it will display a message for records that were not updated.

 The user will can not update the following fields:

 All the updated records will be saved in AD_DirectQueryLog as log. User can check their logs on the “Direct SQL query Log” tab of the “Session Audit” window.

Click on apply button, A confirmation dialog want permission. If you are sure than click ok.  

 

Remark: If all the records are successfully updated than popup box will be closed. Otherwise, it will show a message for not updated records. 

  

 Note: The following fields user will not update: 

  • Key Column 

  • Read only 

  • Not Updatable 

  • Not displayed 

  • Encrypted. 

  • Column that have any Callout. 

  • Fields that have display type Image.

All the updated records will be saved in AD_DirectQueryLog as log. User can check their logs on “Direct SQL query Log” tab of “Session Audit” window.
